So You Want to Hear the Blues

So you want to hear the blues,
Well I've heard the blues before,
But when you hear them all the time
You can't feel them anymore.
Now you want to go get drunk,
Well I'm trying to get higher,
But when you're trying all the time
You don't get drunk - you just get tired.
And I don't know why,
I don't know why I am the way I am.
Now I find it's time to cry
And I don't know if I can.
I don't know why, I don't know why,
I don't know why I don't know why.
Now you want to be my friend,
Well I've had my friends before,
But when you sink below their eyes
They don't see you anymore.
Now you want to be my love,
Well I've had my loves before,
But when you leave them far behind
You can't go home no more.
And I don't know why,
I don't know why I do the things I do.
Now I find it's time to cry
'Cause you say that we're all through.
I don't know why, I don't know why,
I don't know why I don't know why.
So you want to hear the blues,
Well I've sung the blues before,
But when you sing them all the time
You can't feel them anymore.
Now you want to go get stoned,
Well I'm trying to get higher,
But when you're trying all the time
You don't get stoned - you just get tired.
And I don't know why,
I don't know why I am the way I am.
Now I find it's time to cry
And I don't know if I can.
I don't know why, I don't know why,
I don't know why I don't know why.
