Come and Sing a Simple Song

Come and sing a simple song,
That's all I long to hear,
Come and sing a simple song,
Let it gently touch my ear,
Your voice as pure as starlight,
Your heart as cold as gold,
Come and sing a simple song,
The day is growing old.
Come and sing a simple song,
The sun is going down,
The mountains in the west
Are casting shadows o'er the ground,
The birds have stopped their singing
And I fear they've gone to bed,
So come and sing a simple song,
And rest my weary head.
Come and sing a simple song,
A child could understand,
I'll just sit and listen,
I won't try to hold your hand;
I'm not looking for a lover,
I'm just asking for a friend,
To come and sing a simple song,
That will never, ever end.
