Song for Ashley

This is a tune for the man in the moon
And the ladies he knew and remembered in rhyme
This is a song for friends who have gone
Leaving only the passing of time.
He structures his past from the first to the
last
And leaves all his dreams on the loom
But his stories are old and too many times told
And his songs are just over too soon
He never forgets the things he regrets
Or the children who keep him alive
And he always waits for a woman he hates
to admit that he never may find.
This is a tune for the man in the moon
And the ladies he knew and remembered in rhyme
This is a song for friends who have gone
Leaving only the passing of time.
The need for a home and the love of the road
Leave an unsatisfied mind
But he always knows that the life that he chose
Was the only one right for the time.
And someday he'll turn on the edge of a yearning
For a mountain that's built to the sun
And he'll reach for the end with his hand in the wind
Just to find that it's only begun.
This is a tune for the man in the moon
And the ladies he knew and remembered in rhyme
This is a song for friends who have gone
Leaving only the passing of time.
Yes this is a tune for the man in the moon
And the ladies remembered in rhyme
This is a song for friends who have gone
Leaving only the passing of time.
