Vermont Song

Well there's everything anyone could want right here in the
hills of old Vermont
Just listen to those birdies in the trees (chick-a-dee chick-a-dee
chick-a-dee-dee-dee)
Pull on your old blue jeans, go fishing in a mountain stream,
You can do most anything you please.
In the summer it's a garden of Eden where the snakes ain't
got no bite,
There's strawberries in the field and fireflies at night,
You'll wanna kick your shoes off, feel that freedom with your
toes,
And there's a crystal pool inviting you to take off all
your clothes.
In the fall the leaves turn colors and those birdies all fly
south,
You'll be busy as that squirrel stuffin' acorns in his mouth,
The apple trees are full of fruit and the cornfield's full of
corn,
When Thanksgiving rolls around you'll be thankful you were born.
Cause there's everything . . . (chorus)
Well the winter ain't so easy, but you can make it through,
And it's nice to know your neighbor is freezin' his ass, too!
Just stoke up a little fire, put that kettle on the boil,
Gota stack a lot of wood to save a little oil.
Now spring's just around the corner, and it's still three months
away,
You see all the groundhogs in Vermont are frozen solid Groundhog
Day,
But finally that snow will go and the mud makes the scene
And you can eat your fill of fiddleheads and dandelion greens.
Cause there's everything . . . (chorus)
Well life can be so peaceful you may never want to roam,
You'll be free and happy in your Green Mountain home,
You won't need much marijuana, won't need much alcohol,
And Transcendental Meditation would drive you up the wall.
Cause there's everything anyone could want right here in the
hills of old Vermont
Just listen to those birdies in the trees (CAW! CAW!)
Livin' in your old blue jeans, drinkin' from a mountain stream
You'll be livin' in an endless dream in the hills of old Vermont!
